Four People Shot at Howe Community Park — Large Unauthorized Party Turns Violent
Late Saturday evening, an unlawful gathering of hundreds of people at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade neighborhood became the scene of a shooting when upwards of 20 gunshots rang out as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were in the midst of removing people from the park.
How Events Unfolded
Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff got reports involving subjects possibly armed with concealed weapons at Howe Community Park. Another caller advised of a reported fight and individuals running from the park.
Air support was sent to the area and scanned the park but did not locate the reported fight.
At the same time, multiple hundreds of people had gathered at the park for what authorities described as an unauthorized gathering. Deputies formed a perimeter around the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and used roughly 15 minutes directing the crowd to leave over loudspeakers.
As officers worked to clear the park, 20 to 25 rounds of gunfire were fired — triggering a panicked crowd in all directions.
Shooting Victims
Four victims — one woman and three male victims, all believed to be in their get more info 20s — were taken to nearby hospitals.
